# Use Jovvie Checkout on a shared or kiosk device

Section: Jovvie Checkout

> Connect a browser so staff or guests can use your card readers on the Jovvie payment page without signing in to WordPress.

Connect a browser so staff or guests can use your card readers on a shared device without a WordPress sign-in. These steps apply to the Stripe-based Jovvie Checkout plugins for WooCommerce, Gravity Forms, GiveWP, and Event Tickets.

By default, the Jovvie payment page shows your card readers only to people who are signed in to WordPress on that device. If you use a shared device, a kiosk, or a tablet at a door, you can connect the browser instead. A connected browser can use your readers without a WordPress sign-in, even after you sign out of the WordPress dashboard.

The connection lasts one week. After that, connect the browser again.

## Before you start

- The Jovvie plugin is installed and connected to your Jovvie account, which is linked to your Stripe account. See Install and connect for [WooCommerce](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/woocommerce/install-and-connect/), [Gravity Forms](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/gravity-forms/install-and-connect/), [GiveWP](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/givewp/install-and-connect/), or [Event Tickets](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/the-events-calendar/install-and-connect/).
- You are signed in to WordPress on the device you want to connect, as a WordPress administrator.
- Optional: the location you want this browser to use. A location is the place your card readers are registered to, and it has an ID you can copy. Copy that ID from the **Location ID** section described in [Set up a location and readers in WordPress](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/locations-and-readers/). The browser is connected in the plugin’s current mode, so use the live location ID when the plugin is in live mode, and the test location ID when it is in test mode. If you leave it empty, the browser is connected without a specific location.

## Where to find the setting

| Plugin | Where to go | Label |
| ------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------ |
| WooCommerce | **WooCommerce** > **Settings** > **Payments** > **Jovvie Payments** > **Payment Connect** | **Connect this browser** |
| Gravity Forms | **Forms** > **Settings** > **Jovvie Payments**, then the **Payment Connect** group | **Connect this browser** |
| GiveWP | **Donations** > **Settings** > **Payment Gateways** > **Jovvie Payments** > **Payment Connect** | **Connect this browser** |
| Event Tickets | **Tickets** > **Settings** > **Payments** > **Jovvie**, then the **Connect Browser** section | **Connect this browser** |

## Connect the browser

1. Open the settings page for your plugin, as listed in [Where to find the setting](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/connect-a-browser/#where-to-find-the-setting), using the device you want to connect.

2. Select **Connect this browser**.

3. Optional: in **Location ID (optional)**, enter the location this browser should use. Use the live or test location ID that matches the plugin’s current mode.

4. Save your changes.

In WooCommerce, GiveWP, and Event Tickets, the page shows **Redirecting to connect browser…** In Gravity Forms, you go straight to the Jovvie page.

5. Wait for the redirect. If nothing happens, click **Connect browser**.

6. Follow the prompts on the Jovvie page.

When you finish, you return to the plugin’s settings page.

If you see **Failed to connect browser**, try again. If it keeps happening, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).

In Gravity Forms, no message appears if the connection fails. If you stay on the settings page instead of going to the Jovvie page, check that **Connection Status** shows **Connected**, then try again.

## What the connected browser can do

On the Jovvie payment page, a connected browser lists your card readers without asking staff to sign in. If you connected the browser to a location, it lists the readers registered to that location. See [Take a payment on the Jovvie payment page](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/jovvie-payment-page/).

If a browser is not connected and nobody is signed in to WordPress, the payment page asks for your Access PIN (the PIN that lets someone use your readers) instead.

> **Note**
>
> Anyone who uses a connected browser can use your readers until the connection ends. Connect only devices that stay in your control, and connect again after a week.
