# Install and connect Jovvie Checkout for Event Tickets

Section: Jovvie Checkout > Event Tickets

> Install the Jovvie plugin for Event Tickets and connect it to your Stripe account so you can take in-person card payments for ticket sales.

This page helps you install the Jovvie plugin for Event Tickets and connect it to your Jovvie account, which links your Stripe account. After you connect, you can sell tickets at the door with a Stripe card reader or Tap to Pay on a phone. The plugin is a ready-made way to use Jovvie Checkout with Event Tickets.

Jovvie Checkout for Event Tickets works with Stripe only. NMI is not supported.

## Before you start

- You are a WordPress administrator.
- Event Tickets is installed and active, and **Tickets Commerce** is your ticket checkout. Jovvie adds an in-person payment option to Tickets Commerce. It does not work with tickets sold through other checkouts.
- The Events Calendar is optional. If it is installed, door sales are linked to their event.
- You have, or can create, a Jovvie account and a Stripe account. You can create both during the connection steps.
- Your browser allows pop-up windows from your WordPress site. The connection steps open a pop-up window.

## Install the plugin

1. In your WordPress admin, go to **Plugins** > **Add New Plugin**.
2. Search for **Box Office for Event Tickets by Jovvie**.
3. Click **Install Now**.
4. Click **Activate**.

In your WordPress Plugins list, the plugin appears as **Jovvie In Person Payments for Event Tickets**.

## Turn on Jovvie

1. In your WordPress admin, go to **Tickets** > **Settings**.
2. Open the **Payments** tab.
3. Find **Jovvie** in the list of payment gateways and turn it on.
4. Open the **Jovvie** settings.

Until you connect, the page shows **Accept in-person payments with Jovvie!**.

## Connect your Stripe account

1. Click **Connect Automatically with Jovvie**.

   A small window opens.

2. In the window, sign in to your Jovvie account, or create one.

3. Follow the prompts to link your Stripe account.

4. Wait for the confirmation message starting with **Stripe account successfully connected!**

The window closes by itself after a few seconds and the settings page reloads.

If the window does not open, allow pop-ups for your site in your browser and click the button again.

When the connection works, the page shows **Status:** **Connected**.

If you see a message starting with **Unable to connect.** or **Failed to validate Stripe keys.**, wait a moment and try again. If it keeps happening, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).

## What to do next

After you connect, the **Jovvie** settings show more sections, including **Webhook**, **Location ID**, **Connect Browser**, and **Logs**. See [Settings reference](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/the-events-calendar/settings/) for what each one does.

Before you sell tickets:

1. Set up a location and register a reader. See [Set up a location and readers in WordPress](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/locations-and-readers/).
2. Contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/) to confirm that payment confirmations from Stripe (webhooks, which are automatic messages sent to your site) are set up for your site, in live mode and, if you use it, in test mode. Event Tickets only completes an order when your site receives this confirmation.
3. See [Sell tickets at the door](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/the-events-calendar/sell-tickets-at-the-door/).

## Test mode

Jovvie follows the test mode (sandbox) setting in Tickets Commerce. In test mode, no real card is charged. Turn off Tickets Commerce test mode before you take real payments. For more about test mode, see [Use test mode](https://docs.jovvie.com/payments/test-mode/).

## Need help?

If you cannot connect, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).
