# Sell Event Tickets at the door with Jovvie Checkout

Section: Jovvie Checkout > Event Tickets

> Sell Event Tickets in person and take the card payment on a Stripe card reader with Jovvie.

Sell tickets in person using Jovvie Checkout with Tickets Commerce, the checkout built into Event Tickets. The buyer taps, inserts, or swipes their card on your Stripe card reader, and Event Tickets records a normal ticket order.

## Before you start

- The Jovvie plugin for Event Tickets is installed and connected. In **Tickets** > **Settings** > **Payments** > **Jovvie**, the status shows **Connected**. See [Install and connect](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/the-events-calendar/install-and-connect/).

- A Stripe card reader is registered to your connected Stripe account, turned on, and connected to the internet. See [Set up a location and readers in WordPress](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/locations-and-readers/). If this browser was connected to a specific location, the reader must be registered to that location.

- The device you use to sell tickets can reach your card readers in one of these ways:

  - You are signed in to WordPress on this device.
  - This browser was connected with **Connect this browser** in the **Connect Browser** section of the Jovvie settings. See [Use Checkout on a shared or kiosk device](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/connect-a-browser/).
  - You know your Access PIN, the PIN that lets someone use your readers. Without one of the first two, the payment page asks for it.

- Jovvie support has confirmed that payment confirmations from Stripe (webhooks, which are automatic messages sent to your site) are set up for your site. Event Tickets only completes an order when your site receives this confirmation. Test mode needs its own setup, so confirm both live and test mode if you use test mode. To check, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).

> **Note**
>
> Jovvie follows the Tickets Commerce test mode (sandbox) setting. In test mode, no real card is charged, and the payment page lists simulated readers instead of your real readers. Turn off Tickets Commerce test mode before you sell real tickets.

## Sell the tickets

1. Open the event or ticket page on the device.

2. Add the tickets the buyer wants.

3. Go to the checkout page.

4. If the checkout page asks for the buyer’s name and email, enter them.

5. Click **Purchase Tickets**.

You are taken to the Jovvie payment page. It shows the tickets and the total.

6. Select **In-Person Payment**.

7. If you see **Provide PIN to access**, enter your Access PIN in **PIN**. If you do not see it, skip to step 9.

8. Click **Submit**.

9. Under **Choose a reader**, select the reader the buyer will use. Each reader shows its name and status.

10. Click **Process Payment**.

11. Ask the buyer to tap, insert, or swipe their card on the reader, or pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay on the reader.

12. Follow any prompts on the reader screen.

When the payment goes through, you are taken to the ticket order success page.

For more about the payment page, see [Take a payment on the Jovvie payment page](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/jovvie-payment-page/).

## What happens to the order

Returning to the success page does not by itself complete the order. Your site completes the order when it receives the payment confirmation from Stripe (a webhook). This can happen before or after you reach the success page.

If the payment fails, the order is marked denied when your site receives that update from Stripe.

If an order stays unpaid after the buyer paid:

1. In **Tickets** > **Settings** > **Payments** > **Jovvie**, check the **Last webhook received** date and time in the **Webhook** section. See [Settings reference](https://docs.jovvie.com/checkout/the-events-calendar/settings/).
2. Check your Stripe Dashboard to confirm the payment went through.
3. Do not charge the buyer again. Contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).

## If you need to stop

To leave the payment page before the buyer pays, click **← Back**. You return to the ticket checkout page.

Only click **← Back** after you are sure the buyer has not paid. If a payment error appears, or you are not sure whether the card was charged, check your Stripe Dashboard first. Make sure no payment went through and none is still processing before you try again or start a new order. If you are still not sure, contact support.

## Need help?

If **Purchase Tickets** shows an error, or the payment page shows an error, see [Checkout payment page errors](https://docs.jovvie.com/troubleshooting/checkout-errors/) or contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).
