# Jovvie Point of Sale cash till reports

Section: Jovvie Point of Sale > Cash management

> Review till sessions, counted amounts, variances, and cash events in your analytics.

The **Cash Till** report in your analytics lists every till session for the dates and stations you choose. It helps you review who opened and closed each till, how much cash was counted, and where the cash did not match.

The report shows what the register recorded when you opened and closed tills. It does not replace your Stripe or NMI payment reports. See [POS reports in Analytics](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/reports/analytics/) for sales reports.

## Before you start

- Tills have been opened and closed at one or more stations. See [Open the till](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/cash/open-the-till/) and [Close the till](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/cash/close-the-till/).
- You are signed in to your dashboard as a user with permission to manage cash, such as an administrator or shop manager.

## Open the report

**If you use Standalone:**

1. In your dashboard, go to **Analytics**.
2. Select **Cash Till** from the Analytics menu.
3. Select a date range.
4. Under **Station**, select **All stations**, or choose one station.

**If you use WooCommerce:**

1. In your WordPress admin, go to **Analytics**.
2. Select **Cash Till** from the Analytics menu.
3. Select a date range.
4. Under **Station**, select **All stations**, or choose one station.

The report includes sessions that were open at any time during the selected date range.

## Summary numbers

| Label | What it shows |
| ----------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Sessions** | Number of sessions in the report. |
| **Total opening float** | Opening float added up across sessions. |
| **Total expected** | Expected amount added up across sessions. |
| **Total counted** | Counted amount added up across sessions. |
| **Total variance** | Variance added up across sessions. |
| **Average variance** | Total variance divided by the number of closed sessions. |

> **Note**
>
> The summary adds up every session in the list, including open and voided sessions, and does not separate currencies. If your stations use more than one currency, both the totals and the session rows can be misleading, because amounts are shown in your store currency. For an open till, check the amounts on the currency tab in the register’s **Cash Management** window. For closed sessions in another currency, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).

## Cash Till Sessions table

Each row is one till session. The columns are:

- **Session ID**
- **Station**
- **Opened By**
- **Closed By**
- **Status**: open, closed, or void.
- **Opening Amount**
- **Expected Amount**
- **Counted Amount**: shown for closed sessions only.
- **Variance**: shown for closed sessions only. A negative number means less cash than expected.
- **Opened At**
- **Closed At**

You can sort by **Session ID**, **Opening Amount**, **Expected Amount**, **Counted Amount**, **Variance**, **Opened At**, and **Closed At**.

## Event History table

The **Event History** table lists the cash events for the sessions in the [Cash Till Sessions table](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/cash/reports/#cash-till-sessions-table). The columns are **Event ID**, **Session**, **Type**, **User**, **Amount**, **Note**, and **Date**. **Type** is one of **Opening Float**, **Cash Payment**, **Cash Refund**, **Paid In**, **Paid Out**, **Drop**, **Adjustment**, or **Close Count**.

Use this table to find the entry behind a variance, such as a paid out with no note.

This table may not show every event for a session. Older events can be left out, so an event that is missing here may still have been recorded. For an open till, check the full list in the register’s **Event History**. For closed sessions, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).

## Find out why a till did not match

1. Find the session in the **Cash Till Sessions** table and note its **Session ID**.
2. In **Event History**, look at the events for that **Session**.
3. Check for a missing or doubled **Paid In**, **Paid Out**, or **Drop**, and read the notes.
4. Check the cash orders for that shift. See [See Point of Sale orders in your dashboard](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/orders/in-your-dashboard/).

Cash sales and refunds only appear in a till session if the till was open when they were completed.
