# Let the customer pay by QR code in Jovvie Point of Sale

Section: Jovvie Point of Sale > Take payments

> Show a QR code so the customer can pay for the order on their own phone through your online store.

This page shows you how to let a customer pay with their own phone. The register shows a QR code for the order. The customer scans it with their phone and pays on your online store’s payment page, using one of the payment methods your store offers online. When they finish, **Accept Payment** confirms that they completed the order payment page. It does not confirm that you received the money.

QR code payments do not use your card reader or terminal. They work the same whether your store uses Stripe or NMI for in-person cards.

## Before you start

- The **QR Code** payment method is turned on. See [Choose payment methods](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/set-up/payment-methods/).
- Your online store has at least one payment method that customers can use on the order payment page.
- The customer has a phone with a camera and an internet connection.
- The cart has at least one item. See [Find and add products](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/sell/add-products/).

## Take the payment

1. In the cart, tap **Checkout**.

2. If a tip screen or a **Points & Rewards** screen opens, complete it first. See [Accept a tip](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/sell/tips/) and [Redeem Points and Rewards](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/sell/points-and-rewards/).

3. At the top of the payment screen, next to **To pay**, tap the QR code button.

A QR code for this order appears.

4. Ask the customer to scan the QR code with their phone camera.

The order payment page of your online store opens on their phone.

5. Ask the customer to choose a payment method and pay.

If the order belongs to a customer account, your store may ask the customer to log in before they can pay.

6. Wait until the customer’s phone shows that the order was received.

7. Tap **Accept Payment**.

When the register accepts the order, it shows the order. Check that you received the payment before handing over the items. Tap **New Order** to start the next sale.

## If you see “Oops! Payment has not been processed by customer yet.”

The register has not received confirmation that the customer finished paying.

1. Check the customer’s phone. If they are still paying, wait until they finish.
2. Tap **Accept Payment** again.

If the customer says they paid but you still see this message, do not ask them to pay again. Find the order in the register’s order history and check its status. See [Find and view orders](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/orders/find-orders/). Before retrying or switching payment methods, confirm that no payment went through and none is still processing. If you cannot confirm this, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/) before you take another payment.

## Check how the customer paid

**Accept Payment** confirms that the customer finished the order payment page. It does not check which payment method they chose there.

If your online store offers methods that are paid later, such as a bank transfer, the customer can finish the page without paying yet. Before you hand over the items, confirm that you received the money through the online payment method the customer used.

## Order status after a QR code payment

The order gets the **Order Status** your store chose for **QR Code**. The default is **Processing**. See [Choose payment methods](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/set-up/payment-methods/#choose-the-order-status-after-payment).

## Refunds

A refund in the register for a QR code payment only records the refund. Refund the customer through the online payment method they used. See [Refund an order in the register](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/orders/refund/).
