# Connect Stripe to Jovvie Point of Sale

Section: Jovvie Point of Sale > Set up

> Link your Stripe account to Jovvie Point of Sale so staff can take card payments in the register.

Connect Stripe to Jovvie Point of Sale so staff can take card payments in the register, whether you use Standalone or WooCommerce. You connect it once for your whole store. After that, you can set up card readers for each [station](https://docs.jovvie.com/start-here/glossary/#station).

> **Note: Using NMI?**
>
> NMI is not set up on this page. To get NMI connected, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/). The NMI settings are then in **POS** > **Settings** > **NMI**. See [Stripe and NMI: what’s different](https://docs.jovvie.com/payments/stripe-vs-nmi/).

## Before you start

- Have the login for your Stripe account ready, or be ready to create one.
- Allow pop-up windows for your dashboard in your browser. The connection opens in a new window.
- You need to be an administrator or shop manager.

**If you use Standalone:**

Point of Sale is already in your dashboard, under **POS**.

**If you use WooCommerce:**

Install and connect Point of Sale first. See [Install and connect Jovvie Point of Sale for WooCommerce](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/woocommerce/install-and-connect/).

## Link your Stripe account

1. In your dashboard, go to **POS** > **Settings** > **Stripe Connect**.

2. On the **Stripe Account** card, click **Link Account**. A new window opens.

3. Follow the prompts in the window to sign in and connect your Stripe account.

4. Wait for **Stripe account successfully connected! Payments enabled for processing**.

The window closes by itself a few seconds later, and the **Stripe Connect** tab reloads.

5. Check that the **Stripe Account** card shows **Connected**.

Linking fills in the account details on this tab for you, so you do not need to type or change them.

If the window shows a message starting with **Failed to validate Stripe keys** or **Unable to connect**, click **Link Account** and try again. If it still fails, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).

## Choose live or test mode

**Mode** decides whether the register takes real payments.

- **Live** charges real cards. This is the default.
- **Test** uses your Stripe test environment. No real card is charged.

To change the mode:

1. Under **Mode**, select **Live** or **Test**.
2. Click **Save Changes**.

For more about test mode, see [Use test mode](https://docs.jovvie.com/payments/test-mode/).

## Let Jovvie create locations for your stations

Stripe card readers belong to a [location](https://docs.jovvie.com/start-here/glossary/#location), which is the place in Stripe that a reader is assigned to. Jovvie can create and update a Stripe location for each station for you. The location uses the station’s name and address.

This option is on by default. To check it:

1. Find **Add and update locations for terminal readers in each POS Station.**
2. Make sure **Enable** is checked.
3. Click **Save Changes**.

When you change and save a Stripe connection setting on this tab (for example **Mode**, or turning this option on), Jovvie updates the locations for every station. Saving without changing anything does not update them. A station needs an address before Jovvie can create its location.

Locations that Jovvie created are marked **\[Live]** or **\[Test]** on each station’s **Stripe** tab, to match the mode.
