# Choose Cloud or Self-Hosted for Jovvie Point of Sale for WooCommerce

Section: Jovvie Point of Sale > WooCommerce stores

> Compare the two ways to run the Point of Sale register for a WooCommerce store, and find which one is selected today.

This page is for stores that connect Point of Sale to their own WooCommerce store. It helps you choose how Point of Sale for WooCommerce connects to Jovvie. There are two ways, and both need WooCommerce and the Point of Sale plugin on your WordPress site. The difference is where the register app runs.

For current plans and pricing, see [Jovvie pricing](https://jovvie.com/pricing/).

## Compare the two connections

| | **Cloud Connection** | **Self-Hosted Connection** |
| --------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Where the register app runs | On Jovvie’s servers | On your own WordPress site |
| What you install | The Point of Sale plugin | The Point of Sale plugin and a second plugin for the register app |
| Register address | An address on the Jovvie cloud | An address on your own site |
| Updates | Applied for you | You decide when to update the register app plugin |
| Setup | One connection step from the Quick Start notice | The second plugin, then a connection or license step |

**Cloud Connection** is the default. If you have not changed anything, your site is set to Cloud.

> **Note**
>
> Both connections need a Jovvie account. You create one, or sign in to an existing one, during setup.

## Choose Cloud Connection if

- You want the quickest setup.
- You do not want to run the register app on your own server.

Follow [Install and connect Jovvie Point of Sale for WooCommerce](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/woocommerce/install-and-connect/).

## Choose Self-Hosted Connection if

- You want the register app to run on your own WordPress site.
- You are comfortable installing and updating a second plugin.

Follow [Set up a Self-Hosted connection](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/woocommerce/self-hosted/).

## See which connection your site uses

1. In your WordPress admin, go to **POS** > **Settings**.
2. Open the **Connection** tab.
3. Look at which option is selected: **Cloud Connection** or **Self-Hosted Connection**.

The card under the selected option shows the status. Cloud shows **Connected** or **Not Connected**. Self-Hosted shows **Active**, **Not Active**, **No License**, or **Trial Active**. Either one can also show **Connection Postponed** or **Connection Abandoned**. For those, see [Connection and plan messages](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/troubleshooting/connection/).

## Switch between them

You can change the selected option on the **Connection** tab and click **Save Changes**. Choosing **Self-Hosted Connection** only works once the register app plugin is active. Until then, **Save Changes** is not available.

Your stations, products, and orders stay in WordPress and WooCommerce. Only where the register app runs changes. If you are not sure, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/) before you switch.
