# Set up a Self-Hosted connection for Jovvie Point of Sale for WooCommerce

Section: Jovvie Point of Sale > WooCommerce stores

> Run the Point of Sale register app on your own WordPress site with the Self-Hosted Connection.

This page is for stores that connect Point of Sale to their own WooCommerce store. It walks you through running the register app on your own WordPress site, which is called a Self-Hosted Connection. If you are not sure this is the right choice, read [Choose Cloud or Self-Hosted](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/woocommerce/cloud-or-self-hosted/) first.

## Before you start

- WooCommerce and the Jovvie Point of Sale plugin are installed and active. For plugin installation, follow [Install the plugin](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/woocommerce/install-and-connect/#install-the-plugin).
- You are a WordPress administrator.
- You have the register app plugin file, or another way to install it. The plugin is named **Jovvie Point of Sale POS UI Self-Hosted for WooCommerce**. If you do not have it, contact [Jovvie support](https://jovvie.com/support/).

## Install the register app plugin

1. In your WordPress admin, go to **Plugins** > **Add New Plugin**.
2. Install **Jovvie Point of Sale POS UI Self-Hosted for WooCommerce**. If you have a plugin file, click **Upload Plugin** and choose the file.
3. Click **Activate**.

If the Point of Sale plugin is not active, WordPress shows a notice asking you to install and activate it. Do that first.

## Choose Self-Hosted Connection

1. Go to **POS** > **Settings**.
2. Open the **Connection** tab.
3. Select **Self-Hosted Connection**.
4. Click **Save Changes**.

If **Save Changes** is not available, the register app plugin is not active yet. Go back to [Install the register app plugin](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/woocommerce/self-hosted/#install-the-register-app-plugin) and activate it.

## Connect your Jovvie account

1. Go to **POS** > **Stations** or the **Plugins** page.
2. In the **You’re almost there. Just one step to finish setup.** notice, click **Setup self-hosted connection**.
3. In the pop-up window, follow the prompts.
4. Wait for **Jovvie account successfully connected! Payments enabled for processing**.
5. Close the pop-up window.

If you do not see the notice, your site may already be connected. Check the status in [Check the license status](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/woocommerce/self-hosted/#check-the-license-status).

The **Connection** tab also has a **Manual Connection Setup** box with **Public Key** and **Secret Key** fields. Use it only if Jovvie support gave you keys. Never share your keys with anyone else.

## Check the license status

Your license is the plan that lets your site use Jovvie. To check it, open **POS** > **Settings** > **Connection**. With **Self-Hosted Connection** selected, the status shows one of these:

| Status | What it means |
| ------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Active** | The connection and your license are working. |
| **Trial Active** | You are on a trial plan. |
| **No License** | Your license needs attention. Click **Manage** or contact Jovvie support. |
| **Not Active** | Self-Hosted is not selected, the register app plugin is not active, or the site is not connected. |
| **Connection Postponed** | Jovvie could not be reached, and checks are paused for a while. |
| **Connection Abandoned** | Jovvie could not be reached for a long time. Check your connection settings, then click **Save Changes** to try again. |

The **License** card has a **Manage** link to your plan.

WordPress may also show one of these notices:

- **Point of Sale Self-Hosted Server License Not Activated**: connect your account as described in [Connect your Jovvie account](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/woocommerce/self-hosted/#connect-your-jovvie-account).
- **The Trial Period for the Point of Sale Self-Hosted Server has Expired**: upgrade your plan with the **Upgrade Your Plan** link. See [Jovvie pricing](https://jovvie.com/pricing/).

For more help, see [Connection and plan messages](https://docs.jovvie.com/point-of-sale/troubleshooting/connection/).

## Open the register

1. Go to **POS** > **Stations**.
2. Click **View POS** on a station.

The **Home URL** column shows each station’s web address on your own site. If **View POS** is not available, check your connection and license status.
