Follow up on an unpaid Stripe invoice in Jovvie Point of Sale
This page shows you how to open an invoice you sent and check whether the customer has paid it. To send an invoice, see Send an invoice to pay later.
Open the invoice
Section titled “Open the invoice”- Find the order in the register’s order history. See Find and view orders.
- Tap the three-dot button at the end of the order’s row.
- Tap Invoice Link.
You can also open this window right after you send the invoice. To do that, tap Invoice Link on the order screen.
Invoice Link only appears in the order’s menu while the order has a payment link. If it is not there, see If Invoice Link is not in the menu.
The Invoice window shows the status of the invoice, along with its payment term and due date:
- If the window shows Invoice paid, the invoice is paid. The window then shows the order status instead of the payment link, and there is no Check status or Resend button. You do not need to do anything else.
- While the invoice is unpaid, the window shows Check status and Resend.
- While the invoice is unpaid and the order has a payment link, the window also shows a QR code for the payment link, along with the link itself. To copy the link, tap Copy.
- If Jovvie expired the link, the window shows Invoice link expired. This does not tell you whether the customer paid. Tap Check status and check your Stripe Dashboard before you do anything else.
Check whether the customer paid
Section titled “Check whether the customer paid”- Open the invoice, as described in Open the invoice.
- Tap Check status.
You see one of these messages:
- A message starting with Payment received. The order is now: the customer paid. The order has moved to the status your store chose for invoices.
- This invoice is already paid.: the invoice was paid earlier.
- Not paid yet. The link is still active.: the payment is not confirmed yet. The customer may not have paid, or a payment may still be processing. Check your Stripe Dashboard for this order’s payment before you take any other payment.
- The payment link was cancelled.: the payment service reports the payment link as cancelled.
- Paid for a different amount. The order was placed on hold for review.: the customer paid, but not the order total. Do not resend the invoice or take another payment. See Invoice paid but order is on hold.
- Could not verify the payment right now.: try again in a moment. Until a check succeeds, treat the payment as unknown.
Your store can also update orders automatically when the customer pays. See Set up invoice payment terms.
If Invoice Link is not in the menu
Section titled “If Invoice Link is not in the menu”Sometimes the register removes the payment link from the order, for example after the link expires, after the order is paid another way, or after the order is cancelled. A missing Invoice Link does not tell you whether the customer paid, and you cannot use Check status.
- Check the order’s status in the order history. See Find and view orders.
- Check your Stripe Dashboard for this order’s payment. Look for a payment that succeeded or is still processing.
- If you are not sure whether the customer paid, contact Jovvie support before you send a new link or take another payment.
