Open the Jovvie Point of Sale register and sign in
The register is where your staff ring up sales. Each station (one register in Point of Sale) has its own register page. This page shows you how to open the register, what you see while it loads, and how to sign in.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Create a station. See Create and manage stations.
- Your Point of Sale connection must be active. If the View POS button is greyed out, see Connection and plan messages.
- Use a device and browser that Jovvie supports. See Devices and browsers that run Jovvie.
- If your station uses passcodes or user switching, each staff member needs to be set up first. See Set up passcodes and user switching.
Open the register
Section titled “Open the register”- In your dashboard, go to POS > Stations.
- Find your station.
- Click View POS. The register opens in a new browser tab.
The Home URL column on the stations list shows the address of each station’s register. You can bookmark that address on the device you use at the counter. You may need to sign in to your dashboard if you are not already signed in.
What you see while it loads
Section titled “What you see while it loads”The first time you open a station, the register loads your products and settings. While it loads, you see the station name, a progress bar, and a short status message.
- To start working before everything has loaded, click Switch to background loading. The register opens and keeps loading in the background.
- If you see Could not load POS settings. Check your connection and try again., check your internet connection and click Retry.
- If you see Products still loading in the corner, the register is still loading your products. If you are an administrator or shop manager, the notice offers an Optimize button that opens the station’s settings. See Loading and sync problems if loading stays slow.
- A notice starting with Sync paused means the register could not reach your store. The register keeps working with the data it already has and tries again on its own. Click Retry to try right away.
To refresh products, prices, and settings later, open the menu and click Sync Now. The button shows when the register last synced.
Sign in as a staff member
Section titled “Sign in as a staff member”If your station has user switching turned on, the register shows a lock screen with the station name when the station is locked or when it needs you to sign in.
If you are already signed in to your dashboard as a user who is allowed at the station, the register may open without a lock screen. If your station uses passcodes, this happens only if you have a passcode set. Check that the name in the top bar is yours before you ring up a sale. If it is not, lock the station so the right person can sign in. See Lock the station.
When you see the lock screen, what you do next depends on the switch type set for the station.
Passcode
Section titled “Passcode”- On the lock screen, click your name tile.
- Enter your passcode on the keypad. Click Clear if you make a mistake.
- Click Sign In.
If the passcode is wrong, the register shows Incorrect Passcode. and how many attempts remain. After too many wrong attempts, you must wait before trying again.
If you do not see your name, you may not be allowed at this station, or you may not have set a passcode. Ask an administrator or shop manager.
- On the lock screen, enter your Username or Email.
- Enter your Password.
- Click Unlock.
After too many failed attempts, the register shows Maximum attempts reached. Please wait before trying again. Wait, then try again.
If your station does not use user switching, you do not see a lock screen. You work under the account you are signed in with.
Lock the station or log out
Section titled “Lock the station or log out”- To lock the station when you step away, see Lock the station.
- To log out when you finish, see Log out of the register.
