Set up multiple currencies in Jovvie Point of Sale

Set up a Jovvie Point of Sale station to take payment in more than one currency. By default, a station uses your store currency. With multiple currency support, staff can switch the register to another currency you set up, and prices convert at the exchange rate you enter.

  • Decide the currencies you will accept and an exchange rate for each. You enter each rate yourself and change it when the rate changes.
  • You need to be an administrator or shop manager.
  • Check that your card payment method supports each currency you add. Card payments use your Stripe or NMI account’s own currency rules. For NMI terminals, see Take an NMI terminal payment in Jovvie Point of Sale.
  1. In your dashboard, go to POS > Stations.
  2. Click Edit Station on the station.
  3. On the General tab, find the Currency section.
  4. Choose one of these:
    • Station uses Shop Base Store Currency Settings: use your store currency.
    • Station uses multiple currency payment support: accept more than one currency at this station.
    • Station uses [station name] currency settings: use another station’s currency settings. Later changes to that station’s currency settings also apply here.
  5. Click Save.

The Online Storefront Station always uses your store currency and does not show this section.

After you choose Station uses multiple currency payment support:

  1. In Base Currency, choose your store’s main currency.
  2. Under Payment Currency Support, click Add Currency.
  3. In Currency, choose the currency.
  4. In Exchange rate, enter how many units of this currency equal 1 unit of your store currency.
  5. Choose rounding. See Rounding.
  6. Click Save.

The exchange rate must be a number greater than 0. If it is not, the page does not save, and your browser points to the rate field with the message Enter an exchange rate greater than 0. Fix the rate and click Save again.

If a currency row is still rejected when the station saves, the station shows a message that the currency was not saved, and the whole currency section keeps its previous settings. Check each row and save again.

To remove a currency, click the trash icon on its row, then click Save.

Rounding is already on for each currency you add. Each currency row lets you choose how converted prices are rounded:

  • Rounding Precision: Two decimals, One decimals, or Nearest integer.
  • Rounding Method: Standard, Round up, or Round down.

Leave the Rounding Enable checkbox as it is. If you need to turn rounding off for a currency, contact Jovvie support.

Choose the currency staff use to give change when they take a cash payment. You can select only one currency.

  1. In the Set as Change column, check the box on the currency’s row.
  2. Click Save.

If a station has more than one currency, a currency button appears in the cart. Staff tap it to switch to the next currency. Prices and the order total then show in that currency.

Limit a payment method to certain currencies

Section titled “Limit a payment method to certain currencies”

Each payment method can accept all currencies or only some.

  1. Go to POS > Settings > Gateway. If the station uses its own payment method settings, open the station’s Gateway tab instead.
  2. Click Setting next to the payment method.
  3. Find Currency Support.
  4. Choose All Currencies or Select Currencies.
  5. If you chose Select Currencies, click Add and pick each currency.
  6. Click Save Changes. On the station’s Gateway tab, click Save.

At checkout, staff only see payment methods that accept the current currency.

For more about payment methods, see Choose payment methods.
