How Jovvie works
Every Jovvie setup is made of the same few pieces. This page explains what each one does, so setup makes more sense and problems are easier to track down.
Your Jovvie product
Section titled “Your Jovvie product”You use one or more Jovvie products to take payments:
- Jovvie Pay lets you take a card payment by entering the amount, with nothing else to set up. See jovvie.com/pay.
- Jovvie Checkout adds in-person card payments to any app or platform. Ready-made integrations are available for WooCommerce, Gravity Forms, GiveWP, and Event Tickets, and developers can build their own. See the Jovvie Checkout overview.
- Jovvie Point of Sale is a full register with products, a cart, customers, and orders. Use it Standalone, with Jovvie hosting your store, or connected to your WooCommerce store. See the Jovvie Point of Sale overview.
Your payment processor
Section titled “Your payment processor”Your payment processor is the company that processes your card payments. The money from each payment goes to your account with that processor. Jovvie works with two processors:
- Stripe. You connect your own Stripe account to Jovvie.
- NMI. You use an NMI merchant account through Jovvie.
Not every product supports both processors:
| Product | Stripe | NMI |
|---|---|---|
| Jovvie Point of Sale | Yes | Yes |
| Jovvie Checkout ready-made integrations | Yes | No |
| Your own Jovvie Checkout integration | Yes | Yes |
For Jovvie Pay, see jovvie.com/pay.
Some features work differently depending on your processor. See Stripe and NMI: what’s different.
Your card readers
Section titled “Your card readers”Customers tap, insert, or swipe their card on a card reader. Stripe readers come in two types:
- Web terminals connect to the internet on their own. You register each one with the registration code shown on the reader’s screen.
- App terminals work through the Jovvie app on a phone or tablet. This includes Tap to Pay, where the phone itself accepts the card.
See Web terminals and app terminals.
NMI uses its own terminals, which staff choose at checkout.
Your money
Section titled “Your money”Card payments go to your Stripe or NMI account, and your payouts come from there. See Where to see your payouts.
For pricing, see jovvie.com/pricing.
Practice first
Section titled “Practice first”You can try Jovvie without charging real cards. See Use test mode.
